We primarily use Monetate for A/B testing and PDP personalization. We have found Monetate helpful in testing new layouts on our home pages.
  • Customer Segmentation and Targeting.
  • Very Customizable in its capabilities.
  • High-level reporting.
  • Very HTML-heavy in some aspects.
  • HTML module selector is not always accurate.
  • Masking can be difficult to figure out.
Monetate is great if you already have an understanding of HTML and CSS. In that case, it can be very useful and customizable on a brand-by-brand base. However, it is a bit tricky for those who do not have previous HTML and CSS experience to pick up.

We use Monetate to drive our A/B testing program that helps us test customer-centric hypotheses. Landing page optimization and personalization recommendations are the top priorities. The long-term roadmap is to create a more dynamic and real-time personalization using Monetate
  • Segment user for AB testing
  • Personalized recommendation
  • Inject campaign based creatives
  • Scope for Automation and real-time integration with Web
  • Masking can be difficult to figure out
  • Need a longer learning cycle for users to leverage all the capabilities available in the suite
It is very easy to set up AB tests based on the overall population and can use improvements in setting up personalized and dynamic segmentation. Audience segmentation is relatively painless. They provide a robust way to granularly target visitors by device type, location, weather, demographics, etc.

We use Kibo Monetate as a personalization, A/B testing, and recommendation. Every day we test a lot of variables to improve our results over the internet, seeking to provide the best experience to every customer that gets in touch with our brand; it's a powerful solution to remove any road blockers.
  • Product recommendation
  • A/B Testing
  • Personalization
  • It needs to be easy to integrate with other platforms
  • It can be easier to use
It seems to be more appropriate for brands who want to expand and improve their business, seeking the best experience for their customers, improve the product recommendations, it's very appropriate for those who wants to grow the business, for those who needs a very good support and starting on the growth methodology.

I mostly use Kibo for creating personalized offers and A/B tests. Mainly looking to champion between different asset creatives and placement on the page, to determine the winner.
  • A/B test
  • CMS
  • A/B majority fit
  • EVERYTHING!!!
  • Customer support
  • Platform functionality and accuracy of data
This tool was a great help when used as CMS - I.E.: when we need to quickly make content changes and schedule the updates for a certain time/ date. The downside to this is that there is always a flicker - the time to load the new asset is slow to load so that the user will initially see the existing page. The overall page performance will decrease with the number of tests/ Monetate experience running on the page. The overall platform is pretty difficult to use in my experience. Lastly, the accuracy of their analytics dashboard is really hard to trust.

  • Product recommendations
  • A/B Testing
  • Hot Fixes
  • Intuitive guide to creating experiences
  • Beta reporting quality
When hot fixes are needed for website appearance and user experience, and the time and resources needed from internal developer teams is not optimal, Monetate services come to the rescue. The various product recommendations options are in constant use and provide tangible results in traffic and revenue. Lastly, messaging on pages, banners and headers and especially A/B testing, bring even more value to this service. We couldn't succeed without it.

It was on-boarded at my current company before I started, to improve customer experience and test conversion rate optimisation hypotheses.

Experiences were set up to improve product discovery, increase use of site search and to improve conversion through promotional periods.
Some a/b tests were enabled, however the majority of experiences on site had no control, so we had no comparison or variance data.
  • Tested a variety of theories
  • Created experiences focused in different parts of the website, homepage, PLP and PDP
  • Little to no analysis provided by CSM on experiences
  • A lot of experiences were created without a control, so there was no data comparison to give clear insight
  • Shocking communication, often over promised and under delivered
  • Found the Monetate dashboard hard to use, confusing and unclear where to find key information
  • Unfortunately with such lack of support, we were unable to create any experiences independently
Unfortunately we had a really poor experience with Monetate. Unprofessional, poor communicators and provided no analysis and insight into experiences and tests after I asked multiple times. The platform is quite overwhelming and setting up an experience involves the user going into several different sections on site. Overall, would not recommend them after the experience we had.

We primarily use Monetate for A/B and dynamic testing on many facets of our eCommerce site. We also use the platform to set up targeted experiences for specific user groups.
  • A/B Testing.
  • Custom Targeting.
  • Intuitive user interface.
  • Lack of information in the Knowledge Base.
  • Prior experience with coding (HTML, CSS, Javascript) is a huge asset to use the Action Builder tool.
  • The queue to speak with developers to help set up a test or confirm an account setting is very long.
We use Monetate primarily for testing and setting up 100% experiences. We run multiple A/B tests and dynamic tests each month to great success and new learnings. Additionally, if we need to change site content for specific visitors for a short period of time, we use Monetate's 100% experiences to take over a section of site content. We use this the most often when targeting visitors who come to the site from a specific campaign UTM. We do not use Monetate to track sitewide behavior and analytics, even during a testing window. For example, when running a test on the Hamburger menu, we do not have a straightforward way to Monetate to see how those visitors behave during the rest of their time on site. Essentially, it can be tricky to see the detailed full-funnel effect of a test variant. For that information, we often turn to a third-party analytics platform like Google Analytics.

Thanks to the help of this program I have been able to generate an impact on different websites, Monetate is not just any program that supports the creation of a marketing campaign but also helps in the best way to build an adequate administration of each of these elements to give your company a greater presence with effective and completely professional tools that currently exist, our experience has been great thanks to the customization that we have in our hands.
  • We do not know of another program that gives greater solidity to all your administrative content on the web, this program promises greater control to all its users in the cloud.
  • We can work as a group on the web thanks to Monetate, part of our mission is to work comfortably from our mobile devices and share our content immediately.
  • I like Monetate because of the multiple aspects that I can modify to my liking as well as download them to work without depending on a Wi-Fi network.
  • Time is required to be able to achieve the objectives with this program, since it is not very easy to use and run it in its best version.
  • It is very important to train before implementing this program, since its interface becomes much more complicated with each update, this can be improved by making it much more organic and simple.
  • This program still has a lot of potential to exploit and to generate a better management for the exhibition of our products, it can be a bit complicated to show the product on the web without limitations with the image.
Monetate is a fully functional space to generate multiple marketing campaigns for your company on the web, many of the functions found in this program are a contribution to manage your content correctly and give it the space you are looking for, we We recommend it one hundred percent. We feel very comfortable with everything we have been able to achieve thanks to this program.

We use Monetate for setting up and analyzing A/B testing and product recommendations on PDP and category pages. We also use it a bit off-label as a content insertion tool. I'm in the tool daily.
  • Product Recommendation Algorithm. Monetate does a great job of creating different algorithms that we use on our PDP pages as well as category pages. The tool has excellent machine learning capabilities and saves us a lot of time not having to hand merchandise the recommendation strategies.
  • Real-Time Analytics. We use Monetate for A/B testing and it's a great feature that we can see sessions/clicks in real-time.
  • Customer Support/ Tech support. It's extremely difficult for us to get timely responses from our representatives. It's not unusual for us to have to wait several days to get a response. In the 2 years, I've worked on our Monetate account, there has been almost constant turnover in employees which has required a lot of time for our account reps to get up to speed with our business. There's not a lot of transparency into our account rep's tickets with developers. Truly, it would probably be easier for us to directly contact the developers ourselves.
Monetate is well suited to an eCommerce business looking to add recommendations to its website. The algorithms are easy to understand and set up. It's also a great platform for A/B testing, as you can build the tests within Monetate without the need for setting up cookies. The testing analytics are available in real-time, as well as provide projected time to reach significance. For additional insight into the tests, Monetate can be linked with GA accounts, which allows us to dive deeper. We use it as a content insertion tool, which can be challenging as it's difficult to remove the flicker from experiences. We are aware that this use is a bit off-label, and while it's sufficient for our current needs, I don't think we'd recommend this platform for that use. The reason we rated the platform so low is our struggle with the customer service/ support end. It's very difficult for us to receive timely responses from support and we often feel as if our account is being ignored.

We use Kibo Personalization for all a/b onsite testing as well as targeting specific segments: geo-location, device type, etc. We have also used Kibo as an IT workaround when our internal site capabilities are limited and we need a change to the website done quickly with low effort.
  • A/B Testing
  • Targeting
  • IT Workaround
  • Able to be used by non-developers.
  • I wish it worked better with headless architecture. There has been frustration around it being able to easily identify elements on the page using the builder in a headless environment.
  • Would love for more proactive suggestions and QBRs like what was done in previous years at Monetate.
Kibo Personalization is great at allowing non-developers (marketers) to build simple tests without relying on IT resources. Simple things like lightboxes and banners are easily built and repurposed while more technical builds can be done by internal IT or Kibo Personalization technical resources. This allows for more tests to be built without trying to work all through the internal IT release schedule.

We use Kibo/Monetate here on a daily basis in order to deliver optimized journeys to all our users. Monetate feeds our core usability testing purposes, be AB testing or using AI to dynamically allocate users to winning variants. We also use Kibo product recommendations across the site which have been a massive contributor to our customer's engagement.
  • Multivariant Testing.
  • Product Recommendations.
  • AI Personalisation.
  • More Flexibility with recommendations logics.
  • More involvement with experience planning and strategy.
  • More events to keep up with what other companies are utilising monetate to achieve.
In terms of multivariant testing, it is probably one of the most flexible and powerful tools I've used. It's really easy to quickly tweak and change site elements without the need for any coding knowledge. Should you have coding knowledge the tool is even more powerful. The only criticism would be allowing conditional logic in their recommendations engine, i.e. allowing certain logics to fire over others based on what the user is looking at/has carted.

We use it for ab testing, personalisation and recs
  • One to one recs
  • Clear reporting on optimisations
  • Ingestion of data for targeting
  • Flexibility of testing and personalisation options
  • Advice on how to score and prioritise tests
  • Case studies
  • More webinars from other retailers, and more events bringing users together to share best practice
  • Our account manager wasn’t that helpful but we have now switched and the new person is great
We struggled with a test where you couldn’t get it to show on first view. Most tests have been great.

We use Kibo Personalization to power our entire experimentation and testing program. We run thousands of experiments per year, on both a client and server-side basis, and KP is central to this. We use the wide range of experimentation strategies available to us such as standard AB/ABN testing and dynamic traffic allocation experiences to power our decision making. We have a wide range of product teams with differing and sometimes conflicting aims, and KP enables us to power testing in a safe environment. We require quite careful analysis of the results and the reporting and integrations available with pure-play analytics tools mean a greater level of understanding can be gained from our KP-powered experiences.
  • Analytics readability
  • Ease of use
  • Superb account team
  • Responding to issues
  • 3rd party integration
  • Reporting
  • Direct API access to results
  • Per visitor, not per session, reporting
  • In-platform component organisation
KP is perfect for any company looking to get a start in their experimentation program, or looking to increase their maturity in an existing one. It can be used with a variety of organizational structures and management. Even when a company is not blessed with high traffic rates to their website (the testing Achilles heel) then there are alternative methods available that mean value can be gained from KP where perhaps traditional AB testing is not viable. It may not be appropriate for companies looking to automate all aspects of the testing lifecycle, however, these represent a small minority of the entirety of the global eCommerce sector.

I design, set up, and launch experiences through Monetate on a weekly basis. All experiences are client-side implementation and manipulating the DOM to achieve the intended result. Most of the experiences are currently focused on brand changes and proving out the value of specific elements of the site to determine if they need to continue to be maintained or if they can be removed. We look to evaluate all of our experiences against relevant metrics to the area of the website that we are touching. Working with other business partners we are also looking into personalization opportunities to leverage more of the Kibo (Monetate) platform.
  • The Customer Success Managers that we have been given are engaged and interested in helping us solve problems
  • The UI of the platform is business user friendly
  • The deploying and disabling of experiences is relatively easy for a business user to perform.
  • Most experiences to be done correctly require software development knowledge, however, unless you pay for the tier that gives you developer support you are left to a service queue which is slower to get you a resolution on your situation.
  • Data accuracy is an issue unless using a server-side implementation. It never matches your web analytics software, so you have to pick which one you want to believe.
  • On the fly, personalization is difficult without a CRM direct integration. Managing lists by hand is not the ideal way to run such a program.
If you want a testing platform and you have savvy users with at least some software development (HTML, CSS, JS) coding ability then a client-side Kibo (Monetate) implementation will work for you. Running a few experiences at a time. You may need to pay more for support but the platform does pretty well in relation to other tools. I would advise significant technical oversight of any experience manipulation platform. As long as you have the support internally or through Kibo you can be successful with this tool.

Monetate is being used by the e-commerce teams for two sites which I manage. It enables us to improve conversion and average order value by testing creative and promotional messaging, target messaging to consumers based on behavior and demographic segment, and cross-sell merchandise. Monetate also enables the teams to make quick changes to the site and avoid the time consuming ordeal of submitting tickets to developers and waiting for response and resolution.
  • Monetate used to do things well.. times have changed.
  • Continuous improvement in predictive analytics.
A tool such as Monetate can impact the businesses most if it is able to leverage multiple sources of first and third party data. I would discuss in the evaluation process the best ways for integrating and leveraging those data sources in a way that is scalable. If your team does not yet have a culture of testing, it is worth discussing what organization is required to leverage the tool.

Just by our Ecommerce Dept. we use the platform for testing, optimization and some personalization
  • Easy to use, self-service platform
  • Solid customer success management team
  • Platform scales well
  • Ability to run as many tests as desired concurrently
  • Easy to digest performance metrics and reporting
  • My one gripe is the flicker that occurs onsite when running a test.
I really enjoyed working with the Monetate platform. I thought it was easy to figure out and pretty self-service compared to other solutions, had a robust offering with great reporting, and our support team was very helpful. The platform was pricey, but I thought well worth it as long as you are taking advantage of all of the capabilities.

Monetate is being used by the eCommerce team. We mainly use it to A/B test various parts of our website to help us decide if these changes should be permanently made to the website. This is because website changes will require an additional resource (which is outsourced) and has a long turnaround time.
  • Really strong account service team who are very knowledgeable, insightful and quick to respond.
  • Platform is easy to use.
  • Experiences can be created internally once you have received training.
  • Still not 100% across the analytics/reporting component
  • Would be great if we had a local team, given the differences in time zones
Overall, really happy with the onboarding, training and support provided. I would recommend to other brands as once you get the hang of the platform, it is pretty easy to do simple experiences yourself. Otherwise, Monetate and Lean Convert are always happy to execute our ideas whilst still giving recommendations on best practice etc.

Monetate is being used across the marketing department throughout all brands. The system is mainly used for testing customer struggles and to help improve site KPIs. Along with Marketing trading banners and campaigns. Through the use of Monetate, we are able to personalize customer journeys with behavior targeting and data-sets.
  • Monetate cookie provides behavior's targets, and allows the business to provide a more relevant journey.
  • The system is very user-friendly, meaning training someone new is quick and effective.
  • Monetate support is always very helpful, and the account managers are keen to keep it up to date.
  • A Monetate app would be great, as the mobile site is extremely hard to use.
  • Matching the business product feed with the Monetate data has proven to be difficult.
  • Targeting a whole categories PDP is very hard to do with Monetate, unless you have time to find the whole categories of product codes.
  • Providing more Monetate training.
Well suited to:
Targeting specific customers within Monetate, such as Google shopping customers or customers previously bought dresses etc. Completing homepage testing for personalized journeys through the AI testing tool.

Less suited to:
The Monetates analytics page is not very helpful, and it would be great to have more results. Testing sequencing within Monetate has also proven difficult.

Monetate is being used by our web team to conduct A/B testing and personalize the website for specific user segments. We also use it to be reactive with customer messaging.
  • Ability to get experiences immediately online.
  • Ability to compare multiple metrics for A/B testing.
  • Ability to duplicate experiences.
  • Custom events are not easy to use and don't get copied while duplicating experiences.
  • When opening different experiences/actions in different tabs, all tabs switch to the same action/experience
  • Impossible to track custom event on added element (added through Test version) with Inspector before experience is actually live.
  • Differences between experience types (Majority fit vs standard A/B etc is not very clear in the interface. Inexperienced users sometimes choose the wrong experience type as a consequence.
  • Bounce rate sounds sometimes incorrect. The experiment has a bigger bounce rate 90% of the time.
  • Lack metrics such as Exit rates and Median order value.
Good to put content/changes immediately online. Good at A/B testing metrics analysis.

I worked with Monetate as part of the Marketing team. The tool was used by our department only. It allowed to set up customized, location-based banners for the home page informing visitors about changes in the local stores addresses and other changes; to create special promotions and perform A/B testings of their wording; to create and insert sale budges; to add lists of recommended products.
  • It has great customer segmentation capability
  • It allows to use html, css, and javascript to create promotions
  • It has good analytical tools
  • It is intuitive even for a novice
  • Sometimes it is hard to find what you are looking for (for example, how to export data)
  • The way of specifying pages on which promotion should be displayed could be improved
  • It is hard to organize promotions
Monetate is a great tool when you need to run a promotion and analyze it's performance. It is also very good (although a bit time consuming) in building lists of related products or displaying information that is location-specific.

Monetate is used by a marketing department, specifically by a web marketing team. We use Monetate to test our design strategies via its testing platform and by checking its live analytics and results from it. Depending on the result, we will then make a decision to permanently implement the design onto the site itself or to drop the idea if it fails.
  • Dynamic test to let users test several different ideas at the same time while dynamically distributing traffic to the highest ROI.
  • Live analytics to show us where the test is at and to easily compare the experiment with original (control).
  • Faster development job is done when requested.
  • I know the company has been undergoing a change but staff has changed so often that our personalized staff has changed numerous times.
Monetate is an excellent testing platform to test your ideas onto the site and see how it's working before you actually make a permanent change, and to experiment with various ideas at the same time to see which one works the best.

Monetate is used primarily within our eCommerce division, providing personalization for direct navigation, email, direct mail-to-digital, and display advertisement visitors. In most cases, we are using Monetate to execute A/B tests, but we have also used it to create quick patches for styling issues on the site to circumvent time restrictions caused when going through traditional code updates.
  • The reps are extremely timely in their responses and knowledgeable about the system.
  • Monetate has a WYSIWYG system for making changes on web pages that is extremely easy to use.
  • Reporting is clear and easy to share with others.
  • Some DIV tags cannot be selected in ActionBuilder and there is no explanation in the interface as to why that is.
  • The dataset upload tool errors out sometimes, but when you click "View Error", nothing happens.
  • When using JavaScript in ActionBuilder, sometimes it continuously fires even after closing ActionBuilder and reopening it. For example, redirect Javascript entered in ActionBuilder fires as soon as ActionBuilder is opened to edit the action.
Monetate is good for quick changes on the site and simple tests. Complex tests requiring extensive web development can be difficult to execute by business users.

We use Monetate primarily in the UX/CX and site merchandising departments, but we've also created experiences for other channels like email marketing, paid search, and display ads. Additionally, we have "fixes" for bugs that aren't able to be immediately addressed by web dev. And finally, we have experiences to address prioritization of new features that are still in the development backlog.
  • Our Monetate team is amazing! They taught us well, are quick to answer questions, and are very organized to keep us on track.
  • Simple-to-use interface makes it easy for business users to set up experiences with little to no web dev assistance.
  • We've gotten some great ideas out of the Insight reports our team has provided. Some of them we tested already, and others inspired even more ideas!
  • We'd like to be able to use the Monetate resources to help us set up tests that require web dev (to get it out of our backlog), but they also have wait times similar to our internal ones. I realize resources are hard to come by, but this is an area we'd love to be able to utilize more if the turnaround were quicker.
  • IE is always a problem. I know it's not Monetate-specific though, and many tools struggle with IE.
  • We have a large percentage of our users who use IE, and I'd like to provide more experiences in IE without and additional hassle.
I've used different testing systems, and Monetate is simple-to-use. I've been able to train interns who'd previously had little experience, too.
More complicated tests require web dev. I'd like to be able to "safely" shift and style elements in a WYSIWYG interface, but the interface provides most of what I want.
